OBS Studio (Open Broadcaster Software) is a free software to capture your computer screen. For me, OBS Studio is the best screencast or screen recorder application on Linux system. Even further, you can also use this software to stream and broadcast your video directly. OBS Studio comes with a nice and simple GUI and it supports Windows, Linux and Mac OS X as well. With this OBS Studio, you can easily record your screen, create video presentation or tutorials to your audience and many other things. This tutorial is going to show you how to install OBS Studio on Elementary OS Loki. I am using EOS Loki version 0.4.1 on this tutorial.
Steps to install OBS Studio on Elementary OS Loki
Step 1. Install ffmpeg
OBS Require ffmpeg package to run properly. We can easily install this package with this command below
sudo apt install ffmpeg
Step 2. Add OBS Repository
Execute the following command to add the official repository of OBS to Elementary OS
sudo apt install software-properties-common python-software-properties sudo add-apt-repository ppa:obsproject/obs-studio sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install obs-studio
Now you can start using OBS Studio to record your screen activity.
