I mainly work with WordPress desktop to create post on my websites. WordPress Desktop is a special application released by WordPress.org team. In order to use this, you must have Jetpack plugin installed on your WordPress site. On this tutorial, I am going to show you how to install WordPress Desktop on OpenSUSE Leap 42.3.

Steps to Install WordPress Desktop on OpenSUSE Leap 42.3
First, lets download WordPress Desktop package from the official website. You will get a compressed file called : wordpress-com-linux-x64-3-1-0-tar.gz
If you extract the file using right click and select Extract here, you will get an error “archive type not supported”. To solve this issue, first rename the file and change the extension to .tar
So it should looks like this (notice the .tar extension):
wordpress-com-linux-x64-3-1-0-tar.tar
Now you can right click and select extract here. It will produce a new directory: WordPress.com-linux-x64. Open the directory and right click on the file WordPress.com and click Run.
