This tutorial is going to show you how to install Urbackup Server on OpenSUSE Leap 42.3. Urbackup is a free and open source network backup system that allows us to create reliable backups on our Linux system. Urbackup uses Server-Client scheme to create its backup. First, we need to install the server. Installing Urbackup on OpenSUSE Leap is pretty easy since there is a special repository for OpenSUSE Leap.

To install Urbackup, we need to download the repository setting for Urbackup. Go to thee following page and then click OpenSUSE Leap 42.3 to download the .ymp file.
Choose your OpenSUSE version from the list. If your browser recognize the ymp file, it will automatically open the software manager and set the repository for you. If not, save the link as .ymp file and then double click it upon completion.
Follow the installation steps shown on your screen until it completed. Once completed, you can start Urbackup Server.

Now start Urbackup Server with this command
sudo systemctl start urbackup-server
Now, open web browser and type http://localhost:55414
At first, you may see an error message showing storage and permission error. You need to change the backup storage on the Settings page. You will also need to create a new directory for the backup. Add and change permission to the new directory so the Urbackup can write into it.
