How to install Plank on Fedora 27

Plank is a great application for Linux desktop. This will add a dock on your desktop containing shortcut to various applications. This tutorial is going to show you how to install Plank on Fedora 27. You may also find many other Fedora Tutorial from this website. Basically, we can install Plank with the following command on Terminal.

dnf install plank

Output

install plank on fedora 27

Install Plank on Fedora 27 won’t work

Unfortunately, Plank only supports X11 environment. Since Fedora 27 uses Wayland, this won’t work. Nothing happened when we tried to open Plank. In Terminal, I got the following error:

[root@localhost-live Downloads]# plank
[CRITICAL 03:00:24.757482] [GLib-GIO] g_dbus_proxy_new_sync: assertion 'G_IS_DBUS_CONNECTION (connection)' failed
[WARN 03:00:24.757612] [Environment:161] XDG_SESSION_CLASS not set in this environment!
[CRITICAL 03:00:24.757672] [AbstractMain:257] Only X11 environments are supported.

Well, that is too bad. We will update this post once we have the solution or alternative way to install Plank on Fedora 27.
