Veracrypt is a powerful software to create encrypted container under Linux (also support Windows). This tutorial will show you how to install Veracrypt on Manjaro 17.0.2. After installing Veracrypt we can create a special container that is encrypted with strong encryption method, so it will be unaccessible by any others without decryption/password. It is good to store data inside encrypted container so no one can copy and read its content.
Veracrypt 1.19 is available on Pacman repository. So we can easily install this software via Pamac software manager under Manjaro 17.0.2.
Steps to install Veracrypt on Manjaro 17.0.2
Step 1. Open Pamac Software Manager
Type veracrypt on the search box and then mark Veracrypt for installation and press Apply. The installation will begin.
Step 2. Run Veracrypt
Once installed, open Veracrypt from the App Menu. We will need to create our first Volume on Veracrypt.
Click Create Volume to open the volume creation wizard. On this tutorial, I am going to show you how to create an encrypted file container.
Create standard Veracrypt volume
Create new encrypted file
Select encryption option
Specify volume size
Specify volume password
Specify file system
Select cross platform support
Format the volume
Now exit Veracrypt volume creation wizard. And then you can mount the new created volume and use it. Thank you
