Install Navicat Premium on Ubuntu 18.04

Navicat Premium is an ultimate database tool for every database administrator. It has many features that will make DB admin life easier. There are many features in Navicat Premium full version to manage various database servers, backup schema, manage tables, users and many more. All features are packed in a nice and simple GUI interface. Navicat Premium is available for Windows, Mac and also for Linux. The latest version of Navicat Premium 12.1 full version is now available for download.

Since Navicat is not a freeware, you have to pay to use the full features of this software. But, before you purchase, you can try it for 14 days. In order to use Navicat on Linux (I am testing it on Ubuntu 18.04), you will need to have wine installed on your system.

Install Navicat Premium on Ubuntu 18.04

First, install wine on Ubuntu 18.04. You can do this by using the following command:

sudo apt install wine-stable

Next, download Navicat Premium 12.1 for Linux. Select the architecture that matches your system. You will get a file called something like navicat_premium_en_x64.tar.gz. Now, let’s extract this file. Right-click the file and select extract here. It will produce a new folder navicat121_premium_en_x64

Open the folder and then open Terminal in that folder and execute this command:

./start_navicat

In a moment, your Navicat should be ready.
